to get into a multiplayer session, you select "MULTIPLAY" from the game's title menu screen
- two different types of online play: Versus and Raid

- match types: "random," played with unknown players, or "friend," played with friends

- Raid mode will equalize everyone's level

- Kraken is a giant squid-like beast
- Atar is a monster with a number of wings
- Atar capable of flying around
- Atar has two health gauges
- beat the monsters to get items themed around the creature
- 1 item is called Kraken's Foot
- Versus mode evens characters
- character customization data is reflected only as physical appearance changes
- choose from Elza, the mercenary group and the Gurugu race, as well as other NPCs
- stage select
- each stage has unique elements
- as you defeat opponents, you earn points
- end up defeated and you lose points, and then respawn somewhere else in the level
- goal is to have the most points at the end of the five minute fighting time limit
- all players are rewarded with items, weapons and paint at the end of a battle
- players also get titles based on their skill levels
- current leader in a fight gains a crown mark
- items appear on the fields of play as you fight
- Prank Banana: ammo for your bow gun sub weapon that makes your opponent slip
- Sticky Sword: does damage and also slows down your opponent
- Destruct Arrow: special arrows for your bow gun sub weapon, explodes upon contact, explosion can engulf multiple enemies
- Inishie no Katamari: raises your defense and gives you a purple aura
- six players will be able to split into two teams
- equip your character with preset messages which can be used for chat in the lobby and during battle
- messages pulled from the the story mode's dialogue, along with multiplayer-specific messages
- messages are shown as text and also spoken
